Dreaming of Beacon 2 - My Vision for the Next Generation of Beacon Hardware

I've been using Dijit and Griffin's Beacon for several months now, and while great, the current model Beacon leaves me wondering if the way it works exactly how I want it to. If I were to build the next Beacon (or another Beacon sold along side the current models) here's the way I would do it and why.
