The fully iPad optimized Dijit 3.0.0 available now

Team Dijit had been working overtime getting the iPad optimized version of the Dijit app ready for prime time. It may have taken longer than expected, but as the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait. Dijit 3.0.0 is now available from the iTunes App Store, and it's pretty amazing.

According to the company, "The iPad is quickly becoming the ultimate living room "console" device, it's the perfect companion to watching TV, movies, and other entertainment in the home. It's a great tool for finding out what content is available, where you can get it, and learning more about it. The new Dijit for iPad app aims to be the keystone app for turning iPads into living room entertainment control consoles."

Dijit offers sneak preview of iPad optimized app

I can't honestly say any preview with over twenty different high-res screenshots to salivate over should be in the "sneak" variety. Nonetheless, Dijit has finally offerred up a good look at the upcoming iOS release that brings iPad optimization and other enhancements to the Dijit for iOS app.

>> Dijit for iPad Preview: Dijit's iOS App Gets Reimagined for the Tablet

In a blog posting in their official blog, team Dijit gives insight into their reimagining process by sharing the guidelines they followed as they worked on what should turn out to be "the ultimate console for the coffee table."

From the post:

  1. The user shouldn’t have to try to “find” stuff in the app – ultimately if you are watching TV, we can’t predict that you’re about to want to push pause on the remote, change the channel, or read more on Wikipedia about that one actor in that one show.

Dijit Shares Everything You Wanted to Know About Dijit for Android (almost)

The Dijit team has just posted a new blog entry over at the official blog, sharing a lot of new details regarding the new Dijit for Android app.

It took a grand total of about 37 seconds from the moment Dijit’s app release happened until we received our first request for an Android version (many here were confused at the delay, but we assume it just took that long for the message to get through the clogged pipes of the Intertubes).  Diligent fans noticed the first foray of Dijit for Android “sneak” into the Android Market a couple of weeks ago, but that was pre-pre-pre beta...

Feel free to wander over to the post to read it in full, but if you're not into reading the somewhat lengthy entry, I've covered the highlights below:

  • Dijit considers the Android app to be a whole new product. Even though it replicates a lot of the features and UI elements of the iOS app, it's been designed from the ground up for Android.

Dijit for iOS 2.6.2 out, YouTube fix in tow

Having issues with YouTube playback when using Dijit? If that's you, then we bring good news. Dijit has released a minor rev of the Dijit app for iOS, version 2.6.2, which supposedly brings a fix for it in tow.

Doesn't seem to be anything else to mention for this update, but we've got a note out to the company to see if there's anything else in this release.

Dijit for iOS 2.6.2 is available for download now in iTunes. Share your thoughts about Dijit 2.6.2 in the comments below, or in the Dijit for iPhone forum.

Dijit update hits iTunes, find out what's new in Dijit 2.6.1

Hop into the iTunes Marketplace and you'll find a minor update to the Dijit app, version 2.6.1, waiting for download. While not as drastic of an update as the prior release, which added things like social integration and YouTube access (and much more), 2.6.1 does offer a few nifty features sure to help you find what's on.

Dijit now has the ability to track new fall shows and series/season premieres, which will help you find both brand new shows airing for the first time and your favorite shows returning to the air after break. It seems like a small feature on the surface, but I can't begin to tell you how many times I've personally missed the first few episodes of a season because I forgot to set it up to record.

Also new to the Dijit app are some options to filter shows by category, like "kids, movies, game shows, sports, comedies, etc). You can also filter out shows in HD, and even simply find shows with new episodes.

To update, download the Griffin Utility app from the App Store and follow the in-app instructions. Give the new firmware a spin and let us know if you notice any improvements to the IR learning function.

Today, the I hundreds of channels exist, but the breadth of content available to a single person with on-demand sources from the Internet.

As the complexity of these entertainment systems has evolved, new hardware to control all the other hardware has almost become a necessity.

How we interact with TV is now evolving into something new. For years we shared our TV experience with friends and family in the same room, or discussed it with others around the water cooler or lunch table. Today, television experiences are shared with anyone, anywhere in the world, who share your interests via social networks and online communities... even while we watch.
